Money & Health Kits

Two Ways to Immediately Help our Sisters and Brothers in Haiti

Monetary donations made out to the UMC Savage or Community UMC marked "Haiti" or sent directly to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) marked #418325, Advance GCFA, PO Box 9068, GPO, New York, NY 10087-9068. UMC opened a field office in Haiti with the Methodist Church of Haiti in 2005. 100% of Advance gifts made will go to relief.

UMCOR's two relief supply warehouses are asking United Methodists to provide health kits that can be sent to earthquake devastated Haiti. Hundreds of thousands of kits will be needed in the days and months ahead. The kits, valued at about $12 per kit, contain everything from towels and washcloths to sterile bandages and bar soap. They will be distributed to those who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the recent disaster.

Health kits include the following NEW items be placed in a sealed one-gallon plastic (zip-lock) bag.

Health Kit Contents
Quantity Item
1 Hand towel.
1 Wash cloth
1 Comb (large and sturdy - not pocket sized)
1 Nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
1 Bath size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
1 Toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper - no child size brushes)
6 Adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
$1.00 For the purchase of toothpaste. Toothpaste is purchased in bulk and added to health kits to ensure that the product does not expire before the kit is sent.

UMC Savage will be a collection site for health kits.
